A new municipal board tasked with reviewing prior police disciplinary decisions and formulating policy has never been established

In spite of Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton's announcement more than two years ago, a new municipal board tasked with reviewing prior police disciplinary decisions and formulating policy has never been established. In a press conference on June 19, 2020, Mayor Linda Gorton remarked, "Citizens across our country, including people in Lexington, are seeking more accountability and transparency in the way police are disciplined, and we have heard them. "I consider our cops to be outstanding. I think we can make them more stronger by developing this procedure for receiving outside opinion and review after actions." According to city authorities this week, that post-disciplinary review board was never established. The post disciplinary review board was not chosen by the city, according to Susan Straub, a spokeswoman for the city.
